2. Mediums / Psychics & Paranormal Investigations
This is a subject that has been in constant debate amongst many paranormal investigative groups: "Should Mediums/psychics be included in paranormal investigations?"  This is a question that is difficult  too answer.

Paranormal Investigations I do think should be approached from a scientific level , however there are some individuals in need of assistance that want a medium/psychic present . I feel that if the group  follows this  protocol, the Medium/ Psychic can be useful to the group as a whole.

If a group is deciding to use the services of a Medium/Psychic, here are some points of Protocol  I think the group should follow

Protocol:

1.) Give no information about the area to be investigated to the Medium/Psychic, that means nothing, nota. Going in cold is very important.

2.)This next point of protocol can be time consuming: When the group arrives to the area in question let the Medium/Psychic survey the house with a trusted member of the group, alone . Bring a note pad or tape recorder to take notes  be specific in location : Example:" We are in the downstairs  living room in the front east corner of the house." and record all that the medium senses in each room. (If the group wishes to save time let the Group member and Medium/Psychic go on ahead to the location)

3.) All the information that has been gathered of the Mediums/Psychic's observations should not be revealed to the group by the trusted group member and visa versa. In others words this should be blind. You do not want the group to be influenced by what the Medium/Psychic may sense or say. Another key point don't let the individual seeking assistance and the Medium exchange information or have the individual take part in the Mediums/Psychics survey of the location. When the Medium/Psychic is done bring the Medium/ Psychic to a location of the house where no set up activities will be occurring. Or if the Medium/Psychic has driven to the location on their own they can leave, their job is done until the  information that group has gathered is ready to be analyzed and compared.

 How a Medium Conducts Themselves.
This is another key factor to take into consideration when looking fro a Medium to work with the group.
Questions to be raised when interviewing the Medium:

1.) Does the Medium/Psychic charge for this particular service?  Generally A gratuity or donation is requested  to go towards gas but charging for this  particular service itself another point of debate, (personally I find it offensive).

2.) Does the Medium/Psychic use any particular tools in their investigations such as Ouija Boards, séances ?  If the medium/psychic does use such tools it  can be disruptive but also potentially dangerous. If spirit is truly present these tools are not necessary.

3.) A Healthy  Balance in Approach: Is the Medium/ Psychic going into a investigation with the intent of looking for Paranormal activity or for the possibility of paranormal activity? Possibility is a balanced  approach.

NOTE : Rya has had many experiences with paranormal investigations, however she retired from this aspect of the work due to the fact she was over loaded with requests but on rare occasions she still does take part in investigative work if contacted by reputable paranormal investigative groups themselves.
